MY TOP 10 TIPS FOR UNI!!!

 Please accept my sincerest apologies for being away,recently ive been preparing for a MASTERS programme I started YESTERDAY at Brunel University in YOUTH AND COMMUNITY WORK…so ive been doing alot of preliminary reading to prepare for lectures and stuff!!

Stepping onto the campus brought back some old school uni thoughts and memories…oh my days , those days were jokesssssss! Only had one black friend(hang tight David Bishop..remeber our So Solid and Doner kebab days!!!bap!bap!)lollllolol…at the same time it made me think about some of the lessons I had learnt in hindsight from my time in university ………….here they are:

 

1.The least amount of friends you have, the more easier it will be to focus:

Im not saying be a loner , but IAM SAYING dont surround yoursleves with loads of people that are not going to be serious about their studies, the fees per year are astronomical so ensure that you are getting your monies worth .WORK HARD….PLAY HARD!!

2.First year counts !!…let NO FOOL ..FOOL YOU!

Do not fall into beleiving this LIE!!! ..Start off how you mean to go on, because it will take a considerable amount of time and effort in the 2nd year to weed out of you what laziness you have built up in the first year.Treat the first year ..as your final year!!!!

3.Reading is the KEY!

If you read this week what your supposed to have a lecture on next week you will be better equipped to understand what is going on and stay on top of your learning.It sounds trivial and obvious but few apply this principle and end up catching up on reading after the lecture done happen…..lol….ME- im going library Saturday and Sunday to prepare for my lecture on TUESDAY ya si mi do!!:)lol

4.The more you focus on girls, the least you get DONE!

To the MANDEM you have to have a goal and a focus when you go in because there are going to be women who may use university to re-invent themselves into amazing sculptures……..DONT GET MEDUSA’D!!!!!!! Focus on your studies and getting the grade you want, there are plenty of womwn in the world AFTER you recieve that certificate. I’m not saying run away from women , just saying dont let them distract your feet:)…SAME GOES FOR THE LADIES…DONT LET GUYS DISTRACT YOUR GEIGER’S!!!

5.Use university to widen your knowledge of life and culture

Don’t just stay in your ‘BLACK URBAN MUSIC CREW’ cocoon ….break out of the box,embrace other cultures and personalities.You’ll be amazed at how much about the world you can learn from those around you!

6.Know that EVERY LECTURE YOU MISS,will cost you dearly in the long run.

Second hand notes from your friends is not the same as you being present and taking notes on the things you feel are noteworthy. Have fun in university but let it be with an awareness you are there for a reason, so if you going to a party …fine…just make sure you are aware you gotta be up for a 9.00 AM lecture!!!

7.Plan your work and leisure time

If you have a deadline for JANUARY 12TH….or something like that START WORK NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So that you have ample time to plan its completion, at the same time plan how you will celebrate that completion…whether thats a shopping spree in PRIMARK?Night out with friends?…whatever it may be ..use it as an incentive to finish work on time.

8.Your BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND cannot get you a 1ST CLASS!!

Make sure your relationship is not the cause of you getting a third…because LOVE DOESN’T PAY BILLS!!!As well as building your emotional relationship..lol, use time to study in the library together or book time away from each other to concentrate on completing a particular deadline….the completion incentive could then be a nice dinner date 🙂

9.The LIBRARY should be your second home!!

You are responsible for your own learning…NO ONE ELSE! After a day of lectures ,go into the library and process what you’ve learnt because ..you WONT do it when you get home!!!! Use all the resources available in your library …its there for a reason!

10.ENJOY AND HAVE FUN…BUT STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE

It’s an interesting experience that adds to this  adventure we call LIFE….but remain true to who you are do not lower your values or principles because you’re away from home …know that if you can’t do it at home…its probbaly wrong!!!

P.S – If you live off campus dont  forget your ,family visit eatleast every fortnight….because they LOVE and NEED you more than you think!!!!!
